Stewart A. Feldman is chief executive officer and managing partner of Capstone Associated Services, Ltd., one of the largest and among the oldest teams in the captive insurance industry. Capstone is now in its 19th year, engaged in projects throughout the U.S. Under his leadership, in collaboration with The Feldman Law Firm LLP, Capstone has formed over 200 separate and distinct captive insurance companies, helping to mitigate and fund traditional and non-traditional risks for business owners. The Firm has also led more than 55 tax controversies to successful conclusions, which include three tax court cases. It was among the leaders in identifying and solving problems affecting the captive industry brought about by the 2010 Dodd Frank Act and the flood of impaired “LLC-type” arrangements.
Feldman and Capstone were named by Captive Review as among the most influential captive experts by the industry in 2014 and in 2015, were named among the Top 20 Captive Pioneers. For 2016, Capstone was named to the top honor list for Enterprise Risk Management, further solidifying its position as a captive industry game-changer. The Feldman-led Capstone team continues to follow a turnkey approach to captive and alternative risk planning in order to ensure the highest quality program for clients.
Feldman has undergraduate and graduate degrees from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and attended The London School of Economics and Political Science where today he sits on its North American Advisory Committee. He taught accounting at the University of Michigan, now the Ross School, and graduated from its law school. He formerly practiced as a CPA, having since focused on his law practice.
